Bought my TIG 210 EXT in January and it's had 'weekend welding warrior' use only. Found out that the reason I was having so many recent problems with AC welding on my first aluminium project (the tungstens burning up instantly and/or exploding) is that the solenoid valve isn't opening when I depress the pedal, if it opens at all. With a pea shooter on the torch (also one on the two-stage reg) you can hear the HF start firing; but no gas solenoid opening - preflow is set correctly. Does open sporadically, you can hear it click.
Spoke to R-Tech early Wednesday afternoon and their technician said they'd send out a replacement (and newer version as the valves sticking closed has happened a few time) for me to fit myself. Had hoped it would be waiting for me at home when I got back from work on Thursday... messaged them on Friday and asked them to reassure me that it was sent out Thursday so I'd be able to crack on over the weekend. It would seem it wasn't sent then either but was assured that the technician concerned had been given 'all the authority he needs to help to make that happen' in terms of me welding over the weekend.
At least I don't need to depend on it to earn me a living! Perhaps DPD might deliver one by day's end...
