The gasket was pushed up. I would say it was partially blocking the inlet port. Funny thing was I did have a listen around the manifold and couldn’t hear anything. A vacuum gauge may have shown the problem but never had much luck with the vacuum gauges. It’s ok if you new what the engine was running before the problem.
For future reference I’m interested to know how the IR sensor would have helped for an air leak? I just pulled the HT leads. If the sound doesn’t change there’s the problem cylinders.
Been caught out in past with manifold leakage and never really found a satisfactory method of identifying them. Tried the wd40 trick never works for me. How do the pros do it?
