2k metallic problem

Yes totally agree, I don't normally drop coat on gloss, but as a rule I don't use 2K metallic as you can imagine trying to do a full flat side of a sprinter van with 2K metallic and not get a tiger strip effect is a bit of a pain,so had to do some sort of drop coat to blend it in, what an absolute pain in the **** tho!!


as an example I painted this with the same gun and the same brand of paint and got no dry lines or dark and light patches but as soon as its 2K metallic ahhhh it a nightmare.

Rob, when you did the paint you also suffered with the stripes? When you put a drop cost on how did you not get orange peel/dry spots etc? I came a bit further away to try to stop the stripping but ended up with orange peel.

it did have orange peel but luckily it was a dark silver and didn't show up to bad and luckily he wasn't after a flat mirror finish, if he did It would of have to of been in base coat.

as you say lesson learnt, that makes two of us!!!

well funny you should say that i cant find any of here done but its all done and in steam now it an class S160 and ive just started to get part from its sister loco now!!!
