its laughable have a couple of trees in your garden and some dude comes along and slaps a tpo on it no it cant be cut down yet near us they have just cut down over 100 large trees so building can start so whats that all about money and pi...ss in the pot more than likely

There are still a few monster trees left in the UK, we have taken down Oaks and Chestnuts that were over 15` in diameter at ground level.

We had a storm here 45 years ago that took half the roof of the chapel down the hill. It dropped dozens of trees, amongst them an old conker tree, must have been 6 foot or more across the trunk, turned it upside down, along with it's smaller companion.
Some of The slates that didn't fly with the complete half roof were embedded in nearby trees...

There's a bunch of those trees in Queenswood, just north of Hereford, well worth a visit as there is a huge variety of trees there and you could spend a day there easily

That's a few minutes away for us, we used to go there when the kids were little and when it was quiet but there are far too many townies there these days who just go to the play area and don't even see any of the surroundings and there are plenty of other places around here that you don't need to pay. Nice place though. A friend of mine fitted the big stone at the view point.

I believe Sennybridge has the oldest tree in UK/Europe so Wales is doing well in tree top trumps

There are some giants in Bodnant gardens near Conwy, not sure of the species, tallest ones I'd seen anyway.

Biggest I've dealt with was about 6ft at the base. Old oak

The digger driver may have dropped it on top of a listed building.

He didn't want a winch on it while he dug around it so we left him to it. :/


Thankfully landed on the new extension.

Sequoia National Park in California, in credible place to visit........................stick it on your bucket list. A quick stroll around there puts things into perspective on how insignificant and a mere pimple on the earths bottom the human race is

Not the biggest but one of the 2 oldest London Planes is in the Garden of the old bishops house in Ely, We visited it when I was in collage and to say its huge is understating it massively!
