Uhhh... welcome to the forum, I guess

So I take it that you don't have a 3 phase supply in your house right now?

If not, you've got four choices:

1. Cancel the order
2. Sell it back on ebay
3. Bring 3-phase to your house, at a cost of many, many, many millions of pounds (exaggeration, but it will be very expensive)
4. Rig up a VFD or phase converter to get your single phase 220V turned into a 3 phase supply

The only realistic option if you are determined to keep the compressor is #4 but there is an awful lot to consider. Most important is the spec of the compressor - both voltage and peak current consumption.
If it can take 220-240V and has a consumption of less than ~32A / 7KW then you might be in with a chance.

But honestly, if it was me, I'd go with options #1 or #2

If not remove the motor and stick a chunky single phase motor, if the existing motor won't work on 1 phase..

So what you are saying is that a house that is powered to use 1 phase needs to all be changed to 3 Phase to get this compressor to run on all cylinders?

That must be a very impressive compressor, with a 200 litre tank and 37 CFM output! However, to get that rate the motor needs to be minimum 10 HP, which means about 8 KW. It is an industrial-size compressor, for a garage or a factory, impossible to power this in a domestic setting.

3 phase gives you 480 volts across 3 phases, that means three separate phases coming into the house and a neutral, and your local earth.

Generally found in industrial workshops, factories etc, not domestic properties, unless your lucky.

Probably easier just to buy a standard large compressor from machine mart, for example.

And flog your 3 phase on the 'bay..

Looks like I bought a sledgehammer for a nail. Then again I need a DA Sander to work without losing PSI all the time and waiting for the tank to refill. Seems as though anything under 10 CFM is no good.

Sell it on and get a 240v compressor.

You can't get a big enough motor in domestic supply voltage(i.e. 240v) to power a 37cfm pump

I need something good to remove rust off commercial vehicle panels plus it needs to be able to paint spray and remove wheel nuts. What CFM should I be looking for?
