I sometimes wonder what the manufacturers think an excessive temperature is, I've found some of our conveyor motors running that hot you can't touch them and you can smell the oil in the gearbox cooking, but no sign of an overtemp alarm (yes, they are connected)
F is a common rating with a operating temp op around 150 c before any problems.

Can be a problem with big pumps as the shafts transmit the heat through to the circulating liquid.
