Hi All!

Yeah, LT means Low Temp!

Easy when you know!

What this means is that these electrodes are suitable for use on stuff that runs really cold, like refrigeration plants etc.

BTW, Technic, whilst I agree with you on the running of 7018 over 7016 electrodes, have you ever tried this on a hobbyists type machine running off mains electric? And I have used some dodgy 7018's in my time!LOL

Still a bit of a mystery, but they came from a railway stores 12 years ago.

There was pipework going on at the time, but nothing involving low temperatures. Maybe they were bought in error and just dumped in the corner.

but ill post anyway.
would it be worth buying some low hydrogen rods and bake a few of them in the oven prior to use? mainly just for the higher strengh of weld?

As a brand Eland are ok. Can't vouch for their white box stuff though - should be reasonable, if not a bit variable in quality.

rods arrived today. they are a wee bit smokeyer than 6013's! haven't had a chance to have a good play yet, but they seem to run better DCEP?

I believe 7018's run better hot too, try whacking them in the oven after mums done Sunday dinner roasties and leaving the oven on for a bit

Wrap them in tinfoil afterwards to stop them getting damp whilst they cool a little
