A few questions (and a few pics of my mobile tyre fitting setup)

Hello, first off, I'm just coming to the end of fitting my van with new equipment:

Anyway, not being too familiar with my new 'Fonda (fake honda) powered compressor, I was wondering what the pipes that go from the pilot valve to the compressor heads do?:

And also if it was possible to fit a pnuematic throttle control valve to the engine?:

And finally, when you manually move the throttle lever, it relies on a Spring to be pushed to open the carb? You can just see the spring in the above picture between the adjustment screw and the rod that goes to a lever beneath the tank. The throttle sort of connects to another lever under the tank, which then connects via a lever to the carb. I no Hondas also do this, why does it push against the Spring (which just bends) ?

I would vent the exhaust out of the van otherwise your going to fill the cab with fumes the pipe connecting the two cylinders to the tank is the fill pipe conveying the air to the tank. Is the spring not the governor?

I've heard it referred to as that yes, when you push the throttle to low speed, it pushes against that spring which pushes a lever under the fuel tank which the pushes a Rod that leads to the carb?

And don't worry, I'm just going to wait for a few answers on this question, and then ask what the best way of making an exhaust is!

Sorry, those fill pipes, I thought that big exhaust pipe that bends round to the centre of the receiver was the only air fill pipes?

Sorry had missed the bigger pipe. In that case the little pipe is to link the cylinders to the safety valve

Scratch that it's not a safety pipe as it's engine powered it will run after cylinder is up to pressure so that's the vent pie

As for exhaust it's a gx160 engine (proper honda) and I seam to remember a proper exhaust manifold is available for carts etc

there not vent pipes. there the pipes from the unloader valve to the decompressors on the heads that hold the valves open to stop compression till the pressure drops and then the valves cut back in

Looks to me like the pipe going to the cylinder heads is coming from an unloader valve, Used so that once the tank is up to pressure the motor keeps running but the unloader lifts the inlet valves so that the pump just free wheels and does not produce more pressure.Then pumping will start again when your tank pressure drops to the pre-set poundage.

Ahhh, ok then, so they will stop the pump putting more air in until the unloader closes again?

So what is going on with this spring, I've never been much good with carbs, but why doesn't the throttle just connect directly to the carb instead of relaying through different springs and levers?

If it's directly connected the engine keeps increasing revs until it flies to bits!

Oh and I'm really not sure it's a genuine engine, I paid pittance for it and the instruction manual which came with it might aswell have been written by a 2 year old! 'How to troubleshoot hut engine' lol

I have one on my log splitter. Genuine parts fit and visa versa it's not genuine at all. Honda did try to sue for pattern violation but they gave up faster than the Chinese did

No air filters? the red tap on the pressure pipe is to unload the compressor for starting BTW so that you are not compressing as you are cranking the engine on the rope.
You may be able to take a line from the unloader pipe to a small actuator that would pull the throttle to idle when the unloader cuts in, but if it was me I would just run a throttle cable to it, as you are going to be in the van when it is operating so just pull the throttle open to build up quick from an empty start, then when it is up to pressure drop it to idle with that size of tank there should be enough air in there to do most tyre fitting and inflating, with the engine at idle to top up the tank, if not give it a little more throttle. till you know what is needed.
The main amount of air used after bead breaking is to pop the bead on and that is at the end of the compressors job anyway.

To be honest I'm really impressed with the engine, looks the part, but time will tell how long it lasts, I'm fine stripping it down to replace pins/rings ect just couldn't set a carb up to save my life. I'm still confused with this whole governor spring situation, on my engine, when you close the throttle, the spring bends, but manages to push a lever under the fuel tank which in turn closes the carb?

the engine will self regulate with a governor when power is needed under load or its idling and reduces the fuel thats what the linkages do operated by an air flap and the motor fan on the flywheel

Thanks yes, I was wondering what that tap was for, I was thinking along those lines though after trawling YouTube. I think I may use a pnuematic ram to close the throttle once at pressure, is there no 'cut in' on the unloader valve? Does it simply compress until the valve opens?

Oh and managed to lose the air filters, literally have only had it running for 2 minutes though until I find them!
