Well as promised hears a pic of the beast itself, with the 45mm drill I used to fix the tractor axle.
I've never seen one but is there a modern equivalent of a morse taper hand drill.
Here's my 110V drill, given to me by a retired electrician who worked for SWEB (South West Electricity Board), I guess he was issued with it.
It's 2 speed, changed by sliding the nut forward or backward and you can turn the impact from full to none in about 5 steps with the knurled ring on the front.
No makers mark or any labels but it does have "Made In Germany" embossed into the casing.
It has a half inch Jacobs chuck.
Still works really well and gets dragged out occasionally.
Old AEG perhaps?
use that with a 3/4 drill bit and your bum would be nipping if it dug inView attachment 46586 View attachment 46585 heres my drill
I can remember using some of those old Wolf drills nearly ripping my arm off with the torque they had.
Got this wolf off of ebay for around 8 quid a few weeks back,
Opened a 13mm hole to 16mm and the bit caught, was not expecting it at all.
Hah! my BIL was an electrician and he was a bit snowed under with incoming work(house rewires) even though he had two electricans he used to ask me to do the drilling and chasing out and backbox mounting.
Well I ain't no Arnold Swartzenegger and i had to use a drill like that wolf to drill holes in the joist and on one job I hit a bleedin knot and the drill kicked back and I bust me wrist not badly but if I hadn't been quick to let the sod go things might have worse?
i sometimes use my 1000w metabo drill on low speed for augering 25mm holes in joists i dont use it on new beams if there a bit moist as u can feel the drill tightening up and steam coming out of wood . and ohhh sh..it here we go grit your teeth and hang on
yes it has a safety clutch fitted but its realy just for diamond core cutting in concrete so it doesnt realy stop when just augering a 25mm hole just a 4ich oneAll my Metabo stuff has safety clutches fitted, not sure if they all do but if so you should be safe(er) with their tools...
