abac compressor, no pressure

clean everything back to nice shiney metal and i dont see why it wouldnt work unless you find a cracked reed valve or valve seat they are a simple device so should work ok unless you see anything obvious

the holes in the inlet port circled in red look a little strange as though there is something blocking one and partially blocking the other

its also worth noticing the outlet valves the pattern from the carbon doesnt seem to line up which may indicate a reed being stuck / trapped the angled valve also seems to be cleaner

could be gasket on heads. it suck and blows across pots.had it happen.
gets some pressure,but not full.

I assume both cylinder bores are the same size! Some twin cylinder compressors are two stage, low pressure and high pressure cylinders. It sounds like only the low pressure side is working. Two stage compressors have smaller bore on higher pressure side I think.

I have striped it down again.
Both cylinders are the same size
None of the gaskets have blown
cannot see any obvious cracks
the bores both look ok
On the sandwich plate, there are 2 holes/slots where the valves go (circled in pic) on seems to be bigger than the other, Is this correct?

The snooper, where you say the pattern does not line up, I think that is the valves just not sitting straight after i took it off

Stormin, you say it might be the high pressure side that is not working, but I need to find out why???

I am going to have to order some gaskets now before I can put it back together as the 1 between the sandwich plate and the block tore as I took it of

If the bores are the same size it's not a 2 stage.
I still reckon it's a faulty valve.

think you need to get hold of a manual for it.
so many variations between makers.

this sounds stupid but do both pistons go up and down when you turn the crank ? i had same problem once turned out to be a broken conrod. all looked well when i took the head off. if alls well with the pistons and the valves are clean i would look at the non return valve

Yes both pistons move up and down and the bores look fine.
I have ordered a valve gasket set, so just waiting for that to come and hope that sorts out my problem

just received the valve gasket kit, it comes as one unit with the valves sandwiched between 2 plates.
In the end I found it was not the main copper gasket that was blown that is in the middle of the sandwich plate where the valves are but the gasket between the plate and the head.
Fitted the new kit and all working ok now

All good then !! Told you they were simple beasts, there's just not that much to go wrong and when it does it's easy to fix !

never afraid to fix anything come washing machine, tumble dryer, compressor etc... it just getting a bit of info on how they work and what to look for
