there shoudlnt be any air in the unloading pipe to leak out the valve if the non return valve was working properly ? so the non return valve is faulty ?

That's what I reckon anyway. Try cleaning it out before buying a new one, sometimes foreign material gets in there and jams it open.

am i right in saying then , that when i switch it on the pressure building should up should blow the unloader valve shut ?

so that would mean th enloader valve seams to be jammed in the open postition ??? so therefor its faulty ?

Possible but unlikely, check the NRV first.

right , checked the NRV everything seams free n working, cheked the diaghpram and gave it a clean,

still leaking from the unloading valve, but not when power is off,

so it seams diaphgram is fine, NRV is fine so faulty unloading valve ??

Just to be clear, when you say it's leaking from the unloading valve, this means the brass valve on the receiver ? If that is the case, is the leak coming from the small pipe going to the pressure switch ? If it is, then the unloading/non-return valve is faulty, even if it looks ok, they can still leak from the seat between the plastic valve and the brass body.

The unloading valve is on the pressure switch, the NRV is on the receiver.

So when the power is off at the button on the pressure switch and the tank is under pressure there is no air coming out of the unloader. Under these conditions the unloader is forced open by the switch (you have refitted it?) so the NRV would be OK.

Switching the power button to "on" with the pump disconnected from the mains should make no difference.

If the uploader expels air once pressure has risen to over approx 20psi then it is faulty, or there is another fault on the switch which is holding it open.

its the small hole on the side that its leaking fromm, only while compressor is running, gets to about 50psi

when does that valve look like when closed? brass pin part sticking out the end ??

I would guess you have to press the plunger to open the valve, so it looks like it may be stuck open. Will it push in any further?

Given the change of symptoms you may have had a piece of crud in the NRV which has found its way to the unloader valve.

no it wont press in any further, im assumin it should protrude when closed and its pushed in to open , and seems to be stuck there.

That's what I'm thinking. The spring may have broken.

Having said that, the spring should force the plunger in. Can you poke something into the hole in the side to force the plunger out?
