Advice re broken wire speed controller

Ok.. soldered the pot kindly sent to me by Ian.. and did a test run.. welder comes on and clicks when the trigger is pressed but no movement on the wire feed motor.. ?? I am glad I shave my head cause I would be tearing my hair out .. Solder joins look ok.. no apparent soot or burn marks on the board or circuit.. totally perplexed now. Should I tst the motor.. is is common for these motors to fail? I would have thought not. Any advice welcome.. looks like more bank holiday blues. *&^&*(%^(&*^ Sips lol ;-)

if u had a little cheapo test meter i think there about a tenner. u could test for voltage to the motor. and if there is test for continuity on the motor its self nothing lasts forever

Malcolm, the motor will run from a 12v battery or a 24v supply if you have one.
Just unhook it from the board first, to do the testing.
If it runs it may be the fuse or the tip transistor.

Thanks Robert.. will unhook and test motor tomorrow.. all this is a real pain in the asp.. well we have to start somewhere when learning to weld.. and off course I started with a wonderful machine called a SIP LOL.

Robert you say "fuse".. where is that located please?

The circuit board costs more than the cost of the welder.. question for all of you please.

I can get a really cheap SIP gasless, will the board be the same?... I assume it would be as the only difference is the addition of a gas valve in my machine.. any thoughts please.
