Air Brush Compressor

I’ve acquired this from a member recently

it runs beautifully smooth and is incredibly well made

it’s a bit grubby so I’ve started to clean it, most of the paint on the base has just melted off white spirit application on a cloth.

ive done some poking around and the base separates from the compressor thus making it easy to prepare for paint

i Don’t want to take apart the pump and motor as it’s all working.

how best to paint it with all the holes and slots in the motor body?

will spraying be ok? Or will it get on the electrics inside?

or to be safe should I stick to brush painting?

next what paint should I use? I quite like the original hammered finish

I can’t see those and I really don’t want to take it apart. I’m leaning to wards silver hammer it’s, brushed on

I also acquired a compressor and a really nice air brush kit to go with it a few years ago. The plan is to finally finish off some modelling kits I bought a while ago. I will eventually get around to it...eventually!

I'd definitely brush paint it if you decided to paint...and maybe go over the paint with a foam roller to remove some of the obvious brush marks.

That’s cast aluminium. Would look good polished, but I’m loathe to take it apart as something Is bound to go wrong

I got this in a cheap job lot I bought...I spotted the job lot had a Devilbiss spray gun I wanted ...the guy kept his stuff in their original boxes with instructions. I really like old stuff...there was all sorts in the lot I bought. Sadly he had passed away but it's definitely gone to someone who is appreciating it.

Clean it up and hand paint it, will look great if you are patient.
There are some details in it that calls for a different color like on old machinery

Me too, I think it would look good with a clear lacquer or some sort of TYA style wax.

So did I but it soon took the pleasure out of using the air brush, a little compressor is the way to go.

My one comes with a deviilbliss airbrush too. It’s in a beautiful presentation case. It’s been very well looked after

consensus seems to be keep it paint free.

For once I’m gonna listen to the good folk on here and go for some sort of wax, after it’s been polished up a bit more
