air compresser oil what oil ?

the recommended oil for my comp is a 5w40 synth engine oil

I read an Ingersoll Rand catalogue that recommended something similar for their pumps.

its ggot sae 30 in it now if i decide to swap it again i like the idea of thiner when cold and thicker when hot i have got some 5 40 in the garage so might do that when ive got 5 mins but will run the sae stuff for a while as i bought it and its installed
