air compressor problem

Wonder if anybody had any ideas, bought a machine mart se16c100 problem is once it is filled and cuts out when the air runs down it won't start again it just trips the overload button,it won't even restart if i release the air down to 10lb in the tank, but if i release all the air it starts no problem. have tried larger overload button but still cut out, motor replaced same thing, compressor sits approx 3mt from elect meter. machine mart exchanged for replacement but still does the same. anybody had this prob before

is it cold where you have the compressor, a few of the machine mart compressors seem to have the same problem when they are cold

how long does it stand full before next attempt at starting

Snooper It sometimes restarts after 20 minutes and up to 2 hours, but if it sits for over 3 hours just trips the overload

its down to the temperature then. them machine mart units seem to do that for some reason.

after being left for 3 hours heat up the pump cylinder (not the tank) with a hot air gun then try starting it you will probably find it will start.

When it cuts out do you hear the hiss from the pressure switch.

what is it like from cold fiirst thing in the morning.
the temperature has an effect on mine when its really cold .

Could be its not unloading, which could be the pressure switch or air leaking past the non return valve on the tank

but hard to say for definate unless you can see it

Does it keep hissing though while the compressor is not running

first thing in the morning it will run if the tank is empty , it does hiss after it has filled

i know where u are coming from on this one one way valve knaked that happened to mine i took it to bits and rubbed the neoprene disk up on sander its fine now

OK but does the hissing from the switch stop or does it continue to hiss till it tries to cut in again

Have you got a multimeter, if so check that you have 220/240 V coming in to the motor when it tries to start

Eil hisses for about 3-5 seconds, 230v when starting

When you got the new motor did that come with new capacitors

Eil yes it came with new capacitors and just ran same as the other that's when they replaced it with another compressor, i am now thinking both compressors may be faulty batch
