I am in the same boat, struggling to justify a fifty quid battery for a tool that cost me a tenner. I guess there are a good few people in the same boat.
Imagine it was an electric car
That’s a nice gesture thank you,yes,20v 5a,let me know the price.£50 for an Aldi battery? Should have bought Fakita and genuine Makita batteries!
@nickk do you want me to see if my local Aldi has them? You could collect next time you or the missus are visiting this way.

@Onoff ,that’s great,how do you want payment,if you paid cash,keep the receipts.
There was 50 of the 40/20 and 25 of the 20 volt ones in 1 of our local stores.Aldi - 6th June for batteries supposedly
Ive only registered to ask this question here and by the way, there are some in my local in Hazel Grove.
I have a 40v battery and 20v as a spare, also Ferrex combi drill and compact driver. I needed to use the 20v in my drill recently but it wouldnt power though it had full charge so I thought it was faulty. I then bought another 20v from Aldi and when I got home that wouldnt work either so I took it back and got a replacement. When I got home that didnt work either so I thought 'something is wrong here.' I tried it in my impact driver and it works, tried my original 20v which I thought was faulty and it works in the impact. Does anyone know why the 20v doesnt work in the drill thought the 40 does? Anyone else seen this?
Yes that could well be the case. I have a circular saw and it only works on the 20/40 batteries.Is it definitely a 20V drill and not a 40V one?
