Aldi cordless angle grinder

Just been on the Aldi site and had a better look, there’s half a dozen at least and battery with charger combinations hence the dearer price.

Looks like the brushless "new" type use a standard guard attachment method rather than the original brushed type (shown below).

The above guard issue made this mod more difficult that it should have been.

Yep. made up much the same for a mains powered (with added speed control!) for a MAC (BnQ) one but that got damaged and they no longer do the same slim model so was watching the Aldi ones.

I’m on the 520/20 belts on air and want an electric one but they normally run totally different non std belt size

I havent got one yet bit the Fakita/makita clone grinders are recommended by a few on here. Id get one of those over anything sold be ze germans.

Aim may not be the best shop, on amazon they have some bad reviews for excessive gear noise

Make your own up. Find a light and slim (to allow one handed use) grinder preferably with variable speed. Before I added the speed control to the grinder I just used a 110 (yellow type) transformer with a 110 to 240 fly lead to half the speed of the grinder which worked well. Then some box tubing that fits inside another box tube to get the slide adjustment (if you do this right, one arm can cover two sizes of belt) couple of pins and some bearings. Bit of welding and job done. Hard part is finding a suitable material for the drive wheel and tyre.
