Aldi filter/oiler combo

I bought one of these a year or two ago and got round to fitting it about 6 months ago, within a day the Perspex cap on the top of the lubricator had blown off depositing oil everywhere. Over a year old an no receipt so I thought there was nothing much I could do, £15 lost.

Anyway yesterday I spotted the same unit back in my local aldi, so I purchased a second unit with the idea of taking the old one back for a refund.

So this morning I filled the new unit and went to get my lunch, 20 minutes later I heard the compressor kick in and after a while realised it was not going off, went back to the garage, oil everywhere. The new unit had failed in exactly the same way as the old.

Either these are total junk or I am miss installing them somehow. My max pressure is only 7bar, any thoughts?

The plastic bowl on my regulator cracked - I wouldn't buy another.

I would take both back stating I bought the first oiler but thought I broke it so didn't keep the receipt, so I came back for another for which I have the receipt and it did the same thing

Hmmm, 3rd time lucky? No chance!

split it apart and just use the filter regulator and bin the oiler there a waste of time .just 3 drops of oil in the tool before use is suficient

oilers are ok as long as you remember to use a dedicated airline pick up the wrong one then use if for paint and you start cursing

i wouldnt use a reel on airtools or on anything else . quite a loss in volume being coiled up and its a water trap in the coils

I had exactly the same problem, oiler shattered on day one and I thought oh well, it was cheap, I'll bin it and keep the regulator. That lasted a few weeks before the top fell apart, I couldn't really take it back as I'd already binned half of it..

The actual compressed seemed ok but I didn't use it much, I got sick of being deafened by it (direct drive) so sold it and bought a second hand belt drive abac.

I did think about buying one of the air shears and took one out of the box for a quick look, the blade was broken with out it being used

As for the 2 ton winch, it's great for pulling out tree stumps, as long as you have a pocket full of spanners so you can keep putting it back together

Aldi is hit and miss, some stuff is quite good and other stuff is complete sh1t (food as well as tools ) it's a great place for use once and probably bin tools

I have done the same as Brightspark, bin the oiler and just use the reg, A couple of drops directly into the air tool and another couple of drops into the air line where it fits on the regulator, gradually feeds through carried by the air,

I find as a general rule that aldi workzone stuff is complete junk.

Lidl parkside stuff however has often surprised me, and others at the quality, and 3 year guarantee.

Powerfix stuff from lidl isnt quite as good but not terrible for around the house.

Same thing happened to mine years ago - quite sobering as I used to leave the compressor on over night. Fortunately it broke during the day at a time when I was around. I drilled and tapped the port in the oiler that gave onto the little plastic cap. Wound a grub screw in with some thread lock and called it job done. Never used the oiler part anyway but was less work than tapping the back end of the reg out, then having to devise a new mounting method.

An air hose reel will INCREASE the stored volume not decrease it, and if you have dried your air before it get distributed there should be no water to trap anyway. If you are worried about 'FLOW RATE' then the reel is too small a bore.

All my blow guns (about 5 I think) and my external tyre inflater are on reels and have given no trouble over the last decade. I use an 'end of hose' regulator for spraying as I distribute at 110 psi and don't worry which hose reel I use. Works for me.

they wont run a 3/4 windy gun or the small blast pot i have and also doest like the air belt sander i use.im not on about stored volume its the cfm through the hose thats needed
