Have the 780XL with the upright table so can only compare against that, Femi make bigger newer models.
Setup well for upright work it works very well and can't be compared as the aldi does not include that.
The lock offs are plastic rubbish crap, the vice clamp is much better/reliable, the capacity is greater, speed adjustment is not as good with 2 fixed compared to aldi 5
If you don't need the extra capacity or the table option the aldi is as good in my humble. The 780xl was going cheap barely used for £200 with table so had it.

You modded the vice I see. I've the earlier 1100 model and the "cam lock" style vice has just basically given up. Did you detail how you modded it? Cheers.
Simply added plate flush to base on moving jaw to stop it riding up and added a washer at the back of the bar to take out the slop, all that movement made the cam lock pretty hit and miss.
Tightening up this grub screw also has decent effect on taking the slop out.
The cam lock itself is pretty basic and would take some wearing out, how is yours?
Having slated it, I just tried it on flat, round and square and it's locking solid with little pressure.
Still prefer the screw vice on the Femi.
Edit - tea towel rag stock spotted, need to hide that better, wifes going to kill me!
