In relation to the grinder stand.
I don't know what they mean by 'new for 2015' as they have sold this stand before at least 5 years ago? when i bought one,I'm assuming that it has been remodelled/updated? simply because what I found was that I cut a piece of 25mm box section and the blade did not cut right through the box section due to the grinders top section hitting the base before the cutting disc had time to complete the cut.

This shows where the problem is/was the head of the grinder hit the clamping area before a full cut could be achieved ie about 1mm or 2mm of a 25mm box section was left uncut so therefore if you was to try and cut 30mm box section then 6mm would be left uncut.
got a feeling its still the same problem on this new? one.

Actually I quite often use my snapon endoscope, for medical reasons only the other day I was looking in my ear with mine, used it in my mouth,why I had pain looking for splinters under my feet etc .

that is surely just down to disc radius?
be fine for small cropping---- bolts etc or as said drill grinding on site.
could even make a chain saw sharpener out of it ? if you make the chain holder / guide angled.

I find variable speed is good with knotted cupbrushes, slower speed makes it less of a handful

It also allows the wires of the brush to "cut" better rather than polishing, which is what tends to happen at higher speed esp on mill scale.

There sensible comment added for those monitoring.

I have two of those, both have had the speed controller removed for retro-fitting into an older and much more valuable machine (that later came with variable speed). You can't buy the speed controllers that cheap (ones that fit anyway) so I get a double-bonus, one cheap speed controller and a free grinder

I just joined the wires together and use 'em at full speed.

We had an Olympus Iplex one on our hire fleet a few years ago... it was £18,000.
Ended up as an insurance write-off when a customer trashed it; after it spent two years gathering dust at the back of a shelf I was told to bin it, so I did... right into my van.
Listed it with some good pics and an honest description on an auction site; let's just say I could have bought a container-load of the Aldi ones from the proceeds

That would be the price (if I recall ) for a very basic medical one !

Back in the early 90s we bought at auction several Olympus 8mm fibrescopes, the traditional type with a high-ouput light source and articulating tips. The scopes were fitted to jigs with servo actuators to twist the articulation knobs and came with complete video recording suites, all built into flight cases and complete with 500 foot cable reels... they were ex-Bomb Disposal systems, normally poked into packages and cars etc. by a tracked robot and viewed from a safe distance by the operator!

One by one they were all written-off; I still have one somewhere. Lots of the fibre-optic strands are snapped so a large part of the viewing area is black but it still articulates and the only thing better for peering into a car engine is a Videoprobe - effectively what the Aldi things are, but with no tip articulation... which you really need.

The endoscope thing. I'd be happy if I could find one that would pass through a C-type spark plug hole, which is M10 x 1mm.

Just measured my Snap on one for you is 8.51mm dia that is also the dia of the 45 deg mirror that can clip on the end for looking back upwards at the head. I have had them through 10mm plug, I think that is how/why they were designed that size.
