I just wonder how good your japs eye's eyesight is. Mine would need some bloody good spectacles, that's for sure!

the thighs are made from a basket clutch and gearbox shaft that is found on a lot of motor bikes.

that table is made from 90% gearbox parts.

great works of art with some bloody great big prices too....

makes we want to pull some of the cars apart in the garden to scavenge the cogs,springs and anything spikey,hahaha

Great craftsmanship no doubt..wouldn't call them great works of art, but that's me. All the same, a lot of work in each one and I think they're pretty cheap, not sure I'd want to work for what would be a maximum of half the selling price (but more likely a pittance was paid to someone in a third world country),

You have a go archathis...be interested what you can do and ...how long it takes you

Personally, I've seen few people doing this sort of sculpture really well. The aliens are well made but formulaic, probably made on a production line once they've worked out the master. Still....awfy lot of Artists (wi capital A) work in just this way and get paid a darn sight more.

Sometimes I hate the World of Art. *sigh*

Hi Neil....basket clutch and gearbox shaft sounds about right. I know a fair bit about bikes (I have a Fazer 1000 myself) but never seen this on a bike??
What modesl tend to have them...BMW's and other shaft drive types I presume??

Cheers and thanks for all the feedback guys...I personally think these things are works of 'art' in their own way and would love to try and make one.

I actually started making an 'Alien' a couple of yesrs ago but never finsihed it...I'll dig out the photos and put them up...might get me in the mood again!!!

haha they are works of art,,like a sculpture you sit and look at them because there,,,,well good to look at,lol
and someone or even a few people have put alot of work into them,,,so works of art they are.

some of there tables sell for £1000s

if you really wanted to do and like you say,,,mastered the first one the rest fall into like a production line,,,dont you think you could make a couple in a month,,i might be wrong but thats a bloody good wage to me.

It looks like two clutch baskets welded finger face to finger to double the height of the first large diameter piece, then behind that is a clutch inner hub (you can see the oil holes for lubing the clutch plates still etc) then the next segment along is a gearbox shaft, although id guess at out of a car for that bit as it has helical gears which have been ground smooth...
