I can't remember why the original drain fitting needs to be replace? I just reach under mine with finger tips and loosen it a bit . .. when its drained, and the ice formed melted again, I tighten it back up.

Was it liquid on the floor? seed tray under it to catch it and allow it to evaporate?

All sorted now.
I found some 1mm and 0.5mm shims in stainless steel. Their M16 version “just” fits over a 3/8” bsp.
perfect to allow a 1/4 or 1/2 turn adjustment.
so combined with a parallel nipple allows me to lock up the fitting hard, pointing exactly where I want, and combined with Loctite 577 No leaks

Mainly access ( compressor slotted in, and secured by a hd chain, between a Pro Lawnmower and a 350mm large Radial saw). Meant lying down & stretching under the length of the tank
plus I decided on fitting an electric auto drain unit (so preferred to direct wet air outside), and a direct drain, so both required a 90 deg. Bend and a fitting that had a thread on it.
