A Fortis No 11 I just couldn’t resist... those curves man! Nice anvil shape too. Only downside of this one is you can’t hold L shaped objects in the jaws, same with the Record 34. The edge of my Woden and that 24 have a neat cutout to let you do this. This one is going into turquoise.

A Record No2 I did, very early with the patent number. Came out well I thought. Half of the 24 lurking in the back. Both of these were sold. For anyone worrying about paint on the non-paint bits, these were cleaned up just as final as final assembly took place.

A Record No3 and next to it the sliding jaw from that Record No2. Again this was an early patented example.

I’ve been shopping again, picked up this just now, $35. Missing the anvil, the pipe jaw and the bit that goes under the bench. Still, not a bad score! It’s a Record 74 which I believe used to be the Auto-Vice.

Next up is another Woden 190/8 I’m working on. As usual the castings have a good seam which wants grinding off the anvil. They make a nice vice if you fettle them up. Jaw bolts were toast and rusted solid.

This is a Record No6, I think the largest they did in this range. The base shape changes from circular to more triangular on this model. Same patented nut design though.

Turn it over, cut the split pin out, wind the handle all the way out, then knock the taper pin out and use the screw to push the dovetailed nut out. Same process from 00-6

Record No 0. Much finer compared to the Paramo one. A pretty little vice.

A Bonney No 830 Garage Vise. It’s a swivel, horrible casting job, very flimsy vice... but rare it would seem. Mid restoration and looking good.

Parkinson Samsonia Model J 37. Needless to say an excellent vise. This is the approximate colour I found inside, so this is what goes back on.

Barely watched Futurama, I was always more Simpsons inclined though it’s dragging its heels and has been for some time... should have finished yonks ago

Another one I’d forgotten about - a Record No2, missing the jaws. A guy bought this minus the jaws when it was done, said he’d been looking for a nice vice missing it’s jaws to make soft jaws as he was an exhaust fabricator. A vice for every man!

A Record 75. The auction just said engineering vice and showed the side without Record on. An easy score, and a companion to the 74.
