There's nothing wrong with the stuff that's on if it's installed/repaired properly. There are modern PVC alternatives which have the texture and appearance of traditional cast aluminium guttering.
I have also specified and used these successfully on listed buildings with Historic Environment Department (NI) approval.
If it were me I would consider redoing the property or at least complete elevations on such a PBC product and send the original for salvage. Joining up etc doesn't sound like a good long term solution.
It was installed incorrectly from the off. I've done one side of the house already and it's fine. Not taking it all off to replace with plastic.
It's quite simple: The sealant needs to be sandwiched between the jointing plates and the guttering.
I am also fixing similar guttering on blocks of flats where the ******** installers have done the exact same thing instead of following the manufacturer's guidance

this space needs to be filled with sealant

before joint is put on

then you get 'squidge'

one side of property repaired and repainted

leaking joints on gutters (4 storeys up) due to sealant applied outside joint

sealant has to go between these plates and the gutters
