Aluminium trolley jack?

Don't get the SGS ones, they're crap and so is the support, I bought a pair and I may as well have just burned the money, they creep, they don't pump up at all sometimes, one of them randomly drops halfway through a stroke, they went back to be fixed and came back the same but with the wrong handles fitted so now they jam up undoing them too...I've heard nothing but issues from everyone that had one. They're just box shifters mainly outside of their main gas strut business.

I bought a transmission jack from them which didn't work. That ended up as a Section 75 because they were just not interested.

I had a couple of Big Red ones that were amazing but some light fingered scum broke into the workshop and took 'em. Although a friend also had one and the seals went after 3 months so they might also be a bit on the cheap box shifters front and luck of the draw.

I’ve got one of those in the garage, it goes down gently, we phoned Michelin & couldn‘t supply seals as they only sell them, found out who made it for Michelin & they refused to supply on the grounds of safety. I cleaned it & sorted it & it worked for a short while, then reverted to its old tricks. It belongs to my son who said chuck it in the tip, but I’m loathe to do that, I shall just keep falling over it. He got a replacement from Costco & that’s been fine for several years now.

Michelin flog loads of stuff here but seem to make only the tyres themselves, everything else is rebadged.

There’s a sort of parallel thread where ukracer is after bits for a Jack which seems to be murican but is either made by Michelin or bought by them and painted blue.

Have a look at that one as the bit he needs seems to fit tons of different ones.

I have a low profile 2.25 ton Clarke jack weighs a ton may have to look at some of these get one been after an Ali jack for a while as humping my one in and out of a Land Rover was less than fun. Vans a bit better as a tad lower but not by much. May just get a 1.5 ton and use bottle jacks for everything else. Those air jacks with multiple stages always look good especially if you have a compressor on hand and quite light.

Only three places it can leak down. It is most likely the pressure relief valve, if it has one. If it doesn’t, still pumping the jack when fully extended would k nacker either the pump piston seal or the main lift (unlikely as it would probably leak faster than you can easily jack it up - especially with a heavy load).
