Yes, Its in the fizz.
Brings back memories, mine had a very similar plate although my lathe was more a rounded design than yours.

Yer definitely a complete strip down and rebuildHe'd likely get spotty cleaning, if it's not disassembled. Bed part covered by the slide etc. It'd all derust, but it'd have shadowing, and anywhere water can't penetrate/touch, (tight fitting parts, greased or heavily oiled surfaces etc.), would be barely touched, if at all. Best to disassemble & degrease before derusting.
Btw Charlie, I think I may have a spare lever for the backgear if you need one.
I'd be worried about getting all the water out of it again as well. and the fact that its a bit of a lump to lift out of the bin whole. I think I saw the busted off bit in the box of bits, so it might be fixable but I might take you up on that. Thank you. He'd likely get spotty cleaning, if it's not disassembled. citric acid.
I've got a couple of gallons of petrol that did the phase separation thing which fetches the grease off ok and I cant think of anything else to use it for..I would hit that with a jetwash with plenty of hot detergent to de-grease it as much as possible then strip it down and dump all the bits in citric acid.
It's just a healthy glow! When I saw the first photos of this lathe I wondered if you had been magnet fishing!!
It's the future in rusty metal cleaning!

Looks pretty complete so far, just missing a gib strip for the cross slide.
Ask one the fb group someone will have oneThe citric acid is working a treat, it strikes a bit cold on the hands fishing stuff out firs thing in the morning though. Just the face plate and the 4 jaw to finish off, and the big bit to sort out.. Looks pretty complete so far, just missing a gib strip for the cross slide.
Not difficult to make from a bit of BMS strip.Ask one the fb group someone will have one
I was reading that earlier. Looks like there are worse bits to lose. I'll make a steel one for it at some point.Sounds familiar Here is my missing gib strip thread.

Note the very worn screw which I still have not sorted, I've used the lathe quite a lot so still use able but one day it will get replaced
No but it'll probably be easier than getting a piece the right size and cutting itNot difficult to make from a bit of BMS strip.
At long last, an update! Lathe and motor on the stand. It will have to come apart again as IT will end up in another shed, and more importantly the stand needs a shelf..

Need to bolt it all down and sort the belts out, and a bit of tinkering to do yet.
