Angle grinders

Hikoki grinders take a lot of abuse, definitely the best of what’s there, the blue Bosch don’t seem to last anymore 4.5inch, while cordless grinders are fine, it’s a bit silly using them for long term daily use if there’s power near hand a battery only lasts for so many recharges, plus there heavy for any one using them with one hand or even two hands, and they don’t have the same power, once the battery reaches 2 bar there’s a big drop in power.

I wore out a Bosch blue recently. Probably about 20yrs old. It outlasted many others that came and went. And it's excellent quick position change guard lives on on another grinder. In the end, it died because I physically wore the gearbox out, from the outside, by putting it down on steel/rust/concrete. The insides were pretty worn too by then so it was time. Don't know if the new versions live up to the same standards or not.

This'll be the kiss of death I'm sure, but I have had a Bosch GWS 7-115 (blueish body and metal business end) for very nearly 30 years (bought in 1997) and it has outlived 2 x B&D's, a Makita and one other that I can't remember the make of (all purchased after the Bosch). I have replaced the little capacitor in it and redone the power cable, but it really is a great little machine.
