Annoying Compressor fault....?

I love these forum posts that go on forever and need to explain the fare end of a fart when in reality the comp wont start on a cold day due to one of the following. low power supply or long thin leads giving voltage drop . oil could do with been thinner in cold weather . the motor has no extra margin on hp last resort give it a blast with a heat gun and warm it up

The pressure rise during the compression stroke is what creates the temperature rise,

the temperature rise must increase the pressure attained by the compression itself because a scuba cylinder ultimate pressure is higher as it is filled and then drops as the temperature decreases

If you increase the pressure externally (eg by pushing a piston up a cylinder) the temperature will rise.

If you increase the temperature externally (eg by applying a flame) the pressure will rise.

The relationship between temperature, pressure and volume is given by P1*V1/T1 = P2*V2/T2 or P*V/T = constant

the air is only ever going to expand a certain amount no matter what, and that will be the highest temp reached under compression, if it entered the cylinder hotter then the cylinder temp it would contract and to a point create a vacuum so less air output would be created compared to cooler air

Exactly - do the things that are most likely to give results/easiest to do first (oil change for example) working down to the harder to do/less likely. No different to any other kind of fault finding really.

I still find it interesting to mull over some of the theory behind it though, you always find out some undiscovered gems of info when the discussion is open. (Some that is just pure fantasy as well though ...)

You tryin to complicate things?? bringing vacuum into it ?? Lets try and keep this in the realms of sense ableism please, we have already established that oil has nothing to do with it, now we are running a compressor in space.!!

Some of my eureka moments have been after people stating, what appears on the face of it, a silly throw away comment, sometimes a child for instance can say something completely innocent but viewed though 'virgin eyes' they have no preconceived ideas. That then causes people to think and learn from them selves, after all thinking and learning is good-------- isnt it??? tiz for me.

It all depends what the temperature is and if the motor will start on the compressing machine
