i shall bear them in mind.

I changed the caps over from the 4hp motor to the original 3hp (as they were recently changed) and it filled fine and i opened up the water trap and it cut in and refilled fine again, did this about 5 times and all was well. So ill see how it goes for now then look at maybe getting a new 4hp motor

You really need to check current draw (Amps) when approaching cutout pressure, if you could borrow a clamp-on ammeter, this will tell you what load you are putting on the 3hp motor because you are feeding it with a 16amp mcb only as protection and as explained the mcb can go considerably higher for quite sustained period, easily being able to burn your 13A motor out.
A mcb is for the circuit protection, not motor protection.
