that's not the one Saab was the cologne engine same as the German ford

his engine is a 1700cc Ford V4 and was reconditioned about 30 ago and has been stored in the position as seen in the picture since. It was reconditioned by "Frazer Engineering" of Swindon. My Father used to keep a lot of engines in stock and either I would fit them or, they were sold to local garages and they fitted them. This carried on untill 1983 when I took over our family business and my Father retired. I then stopped concentrating on fitting engines and took on general servicing, MOT work etc. I have kept the engine store since then as it was and this engine has remained in there along with some others. I expect the engine is stuck, I haven't tried to turn it over and to do so you would really need to bolt a flywheel to it to lever on. Sensibly, I think, you would need to, at least, remove the cylinder heads and check it through. The damp air has got at it over the years but, the store is dry and sound just not heated. The engine doesn't come with a guarantee, it will be sold as seen. These engines were fitted to Transits, Corsairs and Capris. The compression ratios, and possibly a few other things, varied according to what vehicle they were fitted in. This one is most likely to have been kept for a Transit, It is the British, Essex engine and not the German, Cologne engine which was totally different and used in Saabs as well as the German Ford range.
