Another fish

For those of you that are hard of Herring, CHUNKOLINI IS THE LIFE & SOLE OF THIS FORUM.

I scrubbed it with ammoniun chloride the night before.
In a few minutes it gives a weird greenish colour, then over night goes orange.
This was taken the evening before.
About an hour after the scrub.

can this be stopped like this or will it always rust up ?

Hope you're well mate? Couple of questions (as ever...) for you...
1. where can you buy ammoniun chloride?
2. what's the ratio for making it into a fluid?
2. how long do you normally leave it on?
2. how do you stop the rusting reaction?

I buy it from fleabay.
I just mix up a saturated solution, use hot water and keep stirring it i till it stops dissolving. Mix in some washing up liquid to help break down any oil on the metal.
I put it on and just leave it.
Best doen in the evening and left outside, or spayed with water from a plant mister.

Hi Chunkolini,
That was some useful information as I wondered about the rusting solution, can I ask what gauges of metal you use for this fish. After having another good luck at the pictures, wonder if you noticed in the second picture, in the second gap from the tail, if you look through it you will notice mesh from the gate which gives it a scale appearance? Just thought I would mention it as you may not have noticed.

I took delivery of my Ammoniun Chloride but alas there's no distructions on the bottle What ratio's do you use and do you think it might be a problem with different manufacturers to the solution?

Hi <manicman, see post above for ratios. it dissolves best in warm water.
Scales? well spotted there, that does give food for thought.
