Another grading bucket

after seeing f.j and rory1 post on the bucket repairs I thought I'd stick this up
I gas axed out the old edge and refitted a new one with a couple of armour bars on the back

Thanks yes the edge is Hardox and the armour bars are Hardox aswell

Yes I did she runs spray quite well she packs quite s punch for a little thing running about 29.8-30.5v at 12.8-13mpm gives me about 280 amps on the meters they might say 220 but it's really a 300amp machine duty cycle is way more than what they quote too

I often wonder about duty cycle figures and it seems odd to me that they quote duty cycle on the machine but not maximum powered-on period. Is there a standard period it's measured over?

I mean 33% duty cycle could be 20 mins on 40 mins off or it could also be use it for 8 hrs straight then come back tomorrow and do it again

I cant get into talk of duty cycles and what will and wont happen but a lot of plants do produce less or more than stated. On single phase I think I personally might be burning LoHy rods and a pre- heat. 12mm is IMO about max for single phase MIG applied on cold

the job looks ok though and nobody hasn't tested it can say otherwise

On welders it's a ten minute cycle.

I think someone said it's a fifteen minute cycle on air compressors but I'm not sure about that.

I have tested the bucket I'm the machine driver aswell edge is still on no cracks or anything of the sort
I did do a preheat to 80 degrees though which would have helped out a lot and kept inter pass temp below 225degrees

Strange that a manufacturer calls their machine a 220p when in fact it's a 300A job. Very often the model number is an over estimation of its capacity.

Great job though, and hats off to the Miller box! It makes me wonder what I could push my ESAB 200 Caddy to with a little pre heat.

That machine is quoted on the web as being 200A, so now I'm even more impressed with what it did!

On the literature for that welder, it's rated at 200A on 20% duty cycle. I can't see how that machine can deliver 300A to be honest.
My warrior mig is rated at 250A I got 279A flat out for 6ft run on 1.2mm wire but that's only 29A, 300A is alot extra

Yea I found it weird too I had bought it thinking its 220 amp machine grand job I have 350amp machine for heavier work if I need it. The 220 will run up to 35v ocv and 20.9mpm. Have never ran at that though don't think it will anyway it woul give way too high amps at that kinda setting. Machine also has mains current limiter built in it can stop you at 16amps or no limiter. It can draw up to 37amps on full whack so you need decent power coming into it I have it on a 40a c type breaker and have never tripped it
thermal arc do it on there fabricator 252 aswell it's 250 on dutycycle chart but does 5-300 on their amperage chart

Well maybe not quite the 300 I've had it around the 280-284 mark in 1.0mm wire
Still it's the decent amount above stated rating

If you a strong 32A supply with correct specced breakers it will do it.
