I'd be tempted to use copper tube/pipe for the arms.

Hi Matt, I very much hear and agree the thing being once you add another metal "colour" you have to compliment that colour else where.
I don't spend any unnecessary money on these junk sculptures, it's part of my joy in doing them
Use what I find or have on hand some copper pipe would be an awesome bit, I don't have any of the size required to make it work.

For me the pipe bends are giving the chap too much 'shoulder'.
Perhaps chop them to bring them closer to the body so there is less flat before the bend??
