There's no pump on mine so ill see what its like for now.

No pump on mine either so I'll carry on with a paint brush and mug of cutting fluid as I already have that to hand.


Been busy today so I'll hopefully try swapping out the motor tomorrow.

Concerning the vice, what method is recommended for setting an accurate angle? (as I remind myself that there's no such thing as a silly question!).

setting the vice up to 90degrees requires a test cut piece and a set square . adjust after each cut till its set perfectly .as for vertical . providing the vice bed isnt worn cut another test piece . if its slightly off shim the saw frame between the holding rail till corected it will probably not ever be 100 percent as the blade could deflect . another method is just open the vice and put a square against the side of the blade and vice face and true up

Marking up one jaw with any preferred angles, once those required angles are set, for future quick setting would be an option too? The unmarked jaw can then simply be set by loosening the clamp bolt and closing the jaws before bolting it into place.

Its now finished at last. All new electrics, motor, switches, cables, limit switch ect.

Yes they are a bit better. Its just some 3mm galv plate I scrounged off a customer. they even guillotined it to size for me The old panel was about 1mm with louvres that looked like a bus had run over it then backed up and parked on it overnight. I like to keep things orginal if poss but sometimes you can't always polish a turd!
There is still plenty of air flow to keep the motor cool. I ended grinding off half inch from the top edge of the cabinet to square it up. It just looked p****d when you looked underneath the bed. That created a neat gap at the top and with the machine not bolted down and on castors there is room for a nice airflow from the bottom.

Sounds like they'd managed to balls yours up even worse than mine. They definitely weren't overly fussy when it came to the finer touches, were they.

Those panels really look shedloads better than the originals. They add a lovely finishing touch to it. Mine only came with one, but it won't be going back on there. Even when flat, they still look a bit naff, and those louvres are totally unnecessary with the gap under the bed etc.
