Another Sealey "soft start" compressor switch failed. Is there an alternative?

I added a soleniod valve to mine, in the feed line from the pump to the tank before the one way valve. The solenoid is on a timer connected to the motor so that the solenoid is opened for 4 seconds each time the motor starts .
This lets the motor get to speed quickly and pumps through the solenoid until 4 seconds is up. Been working fine for over 7 years so far,,

oilyneil interested in what solenoid and timer you used as this is something i thought about doing but cant find the right equipment, cheers

For my old British Aerograph compressor, I used an inline check valve "load Jenny" mounted in the line between the head and the tank towards the tank end. When the compressor stops, it dumps the air in the line to relieve the pressure on the compressor with a 1 way valve to stop air flow from the tank. It came from Amazon and as around $10 - 15 as I recall. Works a treat.

connected to the motor power supply (live only when the motor is powered up.

connected to a washing machine cold water inlet solenoid valve:

connected to the feed from the compressor to the tank before the one way valve into the tank.
I used a brass hozelock adaptor to go from 1/4 bsp to the 3/4 bsp on the solenoid.
