@Parm I have a big roll of this stuff, adhesive backed [I trimmed the ends to round them off]. You're welcome to have as much off the roll as you want/need - it's 4" wide.

You can also mix sand/grit to a quality resin type floor paint.
On a side note, that keg has something that looks suspiciously like a still attached to it

On topic +1 for chicken wire wrapped around the stairs, pretty much everywhere on the forestry trails around here have this arrangement.
Firstly, Parm, a blast with a high pressure hose would help.
I'd be thinking of fine chicken mesh and fencing 'u' nail thingies.
You'll have trouble attaching bands of anti slip stuff unless you p.u. and nail them.
All of this in a friendly helpful way.
Yep that is my normal go to solution, but problem is that there is a large willow tree that provides a canopy over the decking and stairs and this is in a shaded part of the garden. No matter how much I clean the woodwork the green stuff comes back very quickly.
This morning I slipped and fell and now nursing a sore back and head.
I agree the gluing anything isn't going to work very well
The stuff that @WorkshopChris linked to is perfect as it can be fixed directly with wood screws. Ive ordered enough to do the job and should provide enough slip resistance.
