Any Idea What Causes This?

Hi All!

First proper post on here! M t M, those first set of photo's look like one of three thing's to me, Arc-Blow, Damp Rod's or poor technique! I would think it's arc blow! Looking at your second set of photo's tell's me your not using too bad a technique! Using the same piece of metal again and again for welding will induce a magnetic field into the plate. Eventually, this will affect your welding arc to such an extent that laying down a good bead will become next to impossible!

When I am testing welders I usually start off with a 10 mm plate ms, I use it over and over again, usually until it is about 80mm thick or until it is too heavy to pick up, and I have never had "arc blow" by doing this, thats using stick and mig, over and over again !
