Alhough EN166 simply seems to say its got no sharp edges . . . other standards needed to specify exactly what it will protect from

I think, without looking, that it’s the suffix that’s the impact bit.

My Bolle glasses for general use are 166F. Face shields and the like for wheels are 166B

that's like saying why not wear safety glasses when walking down the road in case a tiny stone gets flicked up from moving cars, there comes a point when slamming safety as the be all and end all, or why drive in case you die in an accident etc etc etc

I think the guys with a lot of experience are politely & gently telling you not to use such poor-quality gear if you value your eyes.
Pretty good advice I guess having had a fibre off a resin disc puncture my right eyelid in 1973 causing me to spend 30 hrs. in Odstock eye hospital

Is the formatting of that table somewhat screwed up? Should low be 'F, medium 'B' and high 'A'?

Out of interest, what sort of things come with an 'A' rating? Looking around, I could not immediately find anything.

A would be ballistic glasses I think. Shooters use them, as do security people in nasty places
