Anyone got a Range Rover Classic?

Had three - two 2 doors and 4 door Vogue EFi. Carb versions VERY thirsty. All suffered from body rot but chassis still sound. Not much in the way of repair panels for the main body of the 2 door. Would love another - only if never welded, 100% rust free and 300TDi converted

I had a 1985 one out was a shed best bit was the 2.5 Diahatsu Diesel it had great on fuel would tow anything but slow.
I have had my P38 for about 6 years now, its still thirsty and painfully sluggish

After joining a few owners groups and browsing the ads it looks like about £6-7K for something mechanically sound (one even with a recently rebuilt V8) but a bit tatty, £10K for a tidy example, and upwards from there. I don’t think it’s something I’d want to own long term, just a bit of fun for a summer or two and sell it on. I have a lot of work on with the house this year though so it might have to wait / see if there’s any funds left. I even considered swapping out the trusty Golf estate my wife drives 6 miles, three days a week which couldn’t hurt too much on fuel (+ tax free), but for the occasional longer journey with the kids on motorways etc. I don’t know how practical or safe it would be.

We have 3 languishing here. Including a 2 door. For all the "negative" and "neutral" comments, the bottom line is, they are great to drive and you will love it.

Running costs in fuel are horrendous. Even a Premier Division footballer will think twice about using it as a daily driver.

Unless you pay a lot for a restored one, its going to be rusty in places you cannot see, and will be off the road for years if its a DIY job.

But as Clarkson said on Top Gear ........ The worlds most unreliable car, IS the worlds most reliable car.

I went from a Lightweight S3 to a RR classic with power steering, first time on a regular route, started to turn left and nearly drove into a lamp post due to the steering been a lot easier than I had expected
