I use the arc air slice exothermic lances for removing siezed pins. I only use the smaller 1/4 or 5/16 rods off a single bottle of oxy.

Here's a 75mm pin that I lanced a few weeks ago, took two rods to put a hole all the way thru.

arc air slice is something i want but dont want, being abel to smash a hole through pins when needs must would be amazing ( not plesant but if needs must ) and probaly a lot easyer than drilling chewing gassing your way through

The great think about that is it doesn't need to be metallic or conducive.

i really want one now, so if say there is a concrete shutter wall reinforced with god knows what stopping me drilling it, and everything else has failed to get a hole in it i chould just burn myself a hole through it ?

Yes. In seconds. Bricks, concrete, all metals as deep as your lance will go.

I'm sure the H&S brigade on here will pooh pooh me for this but You can Thermic lance with a piece of steel pipe, I've used a piece of 1/4 bore when I've been stuck. Melt the end of the pipe with a cutting torch and blow some oxy down it and it will act as a lance. It's not as efficient as proper Thermic lances but it works

seen a gadgie with lengths of sparkie conduit filled with lengths of 3mm rod coupled to a bank of oxy with a hose and ball valve cut up 4 inch plate frightening to watch no correct ppe either

Dangerous ones if they get caught in a void. Fillings get tasty too, if topside dont engage the knife switch once rod is fired up.

They use an arc welder to provide the spark to get the process going underwater. Doesn't need to be a particularly big one, unless you are using long or corroded cables (and welding cables suffer in the sea and corrode quickly) and then you need a bit more amperage to overcome the high resistance.

We used a genset, can't remember total output. Nice piece of clean copper plate to scratch on to initiate the burning process, once fired up, power no longer required and circuit broke via knife switch on the surface. Oxy pressure set depending on depth. Scary stuff to use!

Used on surface, a CDI capsule (chemical start) can be used, handy if there is no power at hand, chemical reacts with oxy, which then fires up the Broco rod.

Make sure there's somebody out in the street with a two-way to tell you when the coppers are passing. It will be hellfire hot down in the vault.
