This and others welding in a workshop I'm in is why I always wear safety specs, they stop pretty much 100 % or uv, so it's just the bright visible light that gives you the eye fizzies if you get a flash.

Just a quick follow up. Had an opportunity to attach some Velcro and a square of leather from the apron I ordered and I think this will do the job, and I'm left with plenty of the apron left to use if I need similar things making up. The leather from the £6.99 apron seems thin and not very robust, which is what I expected for that price point and I expect it'll do the job for what it is intended to here.
