Yep. This is where they need a good belt to get through the flux.After running a weld it's normal for the flux to protrude beyond the end of the metal, so you need to knock this flux off to expose the metal in order to strike an arc.
It’s only really basic coatings that cause this. Rutiles and cels restrike fine.
