You are asking a lot, I gave up welding 30 years ago (showing my age now). If I remember right at least a couple of runs were stove welded, penetration had to be 100% or it was a cut out & re weld, prep was something like 60 degrees with the bottom edge ground back flat (forgotten the correct term) helps to control the penetration. This type of welding was a spin off from the oil pipe line industry (very quick) I used to weld heating pipe, high pressure hot water pipe & steam mains mainly, with a short spell in a boat yard some where near Erith Kent.
