Halfords have a fixed shade one for about £13 if your not doing it the whole time buy that itl do perfectly for occasional use no need to worry bout battery’s or nothing .
Too many people don’t realize the harm welding does to your skin if unprotected yes they might work to keep your eyesight but that’s not much use To your skin which will be raw .

Someone complained about it. Unbelievable!!
Guess not.Guess they didn like your honesty
I have just learned self taught myself to mig weld and have been using a auto darkening helmet but when im in a tight space under the car I use a face mask type auto darkening but I did not realise about your face skin until I read these posts I have gauntlets and a leather apron these were bought because I was sick of getting burnt. Glad that Im up with the programme nowGive it a week and let us know how tender your face is...
You have to remember a good few of us are professionals in one capacity or another and have in some cases decades of experience of welding to cast judgement on bits like that
Ooooh that’s a one way ticket to cancer, that is. You’d be surprised how much damage can be done and how quickly. I managed to end up in a&e with a severely UV burnt arm after what probably amounted to 25 minutes of stick welding in a t shirt. Because I’m a knob. Haven’t made that mistake again
Slightly better than the diagnosis I got when I finally dragged myself into a&e after my ankle hurting for two weeks after a drunken fall and it turned out I’d fractured it. Nurse went mental when I told her how long ago it happenedThat was the diagnosis at A&E? Blimey.
