You can get a poor but very neat crimp from a ratcheting tool as the correct pressure setting is essential for the crimp being used in comparison to wire size. While the insulation can be firmly held and the completed crimp feels firm, the stripped end can be loose giving a poor connection. If too tight the crimp can fail with movement by being partially chopped through.
