you cut your rot out and as i can see is you welded from your thin to the new sheet

why didnt you weld from your new sheet to the old which will be thinner

think about it as its easier to weld it that way

you can also shape it much better

What do you mean? As in start the weld on the old piece of metal so it melts on the new?

That's interesting, I thought you would just start in the middle of the two, down the line

its easier to weld from the new to the old as its thicker old is grinded down so is thinner

tack it first then start welding using thick to thin method of welding

Well after watching vids and looking at all the feedback, I'm pleased with this next result

Obvs it's still not the best but it is a big improvement, cheers all for the help
