I use mine with the guard on and gloves and an old welding helmet.
We're all adults here capable of making our own minds up and no one should be criticised or applauded for their personal take on individual safety (in the home workshop).
However, there is no harm in discussing the rights and wrongs/pros and cons of elfin safety issues. At least then the reader is certainly informed perhaps of matters for which they had no prior knowledge.
For example, I lucked out when I discovered in this very forum that welding galvanised steel was a no-no. I was young and foolish and had no idea other than that scaff pole really didn't want to stick... As for using brake fluid as a cleaner, well...
No harm in knowing the risks. No harm, no foul.
