What's the definitive answer then? Looks like Epoxy primer, jotamastic stuff then a topcoat?

I have well and truely raped the underside with a grinder wire brush and am making use of the extra daylight!

Is there any better option for cavities than waxoyl or a similar ting?

waxoil isnt good

bilt hamber /dinitrol are better , do it when its hot so it runs into everywhere

I'd consider using the military version or what the germans use, its a lot harder wearing

Jotun is an epoxy meant for bare metal and able to go over light rust, so you don't need a 'normal' epoxy first. Non-isocyanate so no worries on that score.
The reason I don't like waxes & glops is they hide problems, with paint you can see stonechips or whatever and fix 'em if you take have a scan round now & then.

yeah agree there...hide it with gloopy mess and small problems remain hidden until its a hole

Don't use hammerite or schutz bitumen based stonechip or an engine oil mix for cavities. Use the following:

1. Epoxy primer on bare metal
2. Seam seal
3. 3M 2k underseal (expensive!) or dinitrol stonechip
4. Top coat with 2k colour
5. Spray with dinitrol wax
6. Spray cavities with dinitrol or dynax s50 cavity wax

Me again with a couple more questions. I've added them to this thread as it is in keeping with this thread.

I've ordered some Gravitex due to it's popularity on here I thought it best to stick with tested products. Do you guys recommend a couple of coats between epoxy and 2k on things like fuel tanks and axles etc or do you just put it on the floor? I thought it's probaby worth doing the tank but leave the axle with just epoxy and 2k, sound alright? I want to do a thorough job as it is on my pride and joy.

You see modern cars with it everywhere as it saves masking up, If you get it on right its quite an attractive finish, I epoxy then gravitex, then 2k topcoat, never failed me yet.

Read the instructions on the container, it tells you how to put it on smooth or textured.
