This year is the first time I have ever seen rain this heavy. I lived in the tropics for many years and it was quite normal there, monsoon season, several days of it in a row, for several months, but the sheer volume of water falling all at once is something new to the U.K.

At least Severn Trent can't complain they are short of water now.

I only work outside until 10am......
after that, the internet gets a bashing......no covered workshop yet......

The amount of leaks where I live Severn Trent will always be short of water, they have being fixing leaks in local village for well over a year, every time they do a repair a new leak appears a bit further down the road at the next weakest point.

There was a major leak in my village for years, a small back road was flooded all year round in one place. I thought it was some sort of natural spring, but one day I went past and there was a fountain of water 20' in the air, and several Severn Trent vans in attendance. Since then the floods have stopped....

That's the problem facing anybody organising an event in this country. It's impossible to even guess whether it will be rain, or shine, on any given day.

I was just heading up to a mates 60th birthday party, taken over a pub for the weekend. Forecast was that the rain had gone, going to be dry the rest of the day.... 25 mile ride, easy enough....

I got halfway there and the heavens opened, biblical, I could barely see, got totally soaked and turned for home. I got here ten minutes ago and it's dry as a bone here.

You should be here in Italy .
Sun is so hard that can crack rocks , here in my town ( north-est of Italy ) we have 34-36 °C and tons of humidity .
40-41 °C in places like Sicily , Tuscany and Sardinia .
Good thing for tourists , not so good while welding in the shop .

Tomorrow I'm planning to have a lone dirtbike train session in the woods so I have to wake up at 5:00 am , breakfast and packing some stuff , and I'll be there around 6:30 am , that's the only way to train at a decent temperature ( it will take probably 2-3 hours ) .
And nobody is out there , like bicycles or horses or just people walking .. so I can enjoy it all .

It's damn hot , damn damn hot here .

Hey , you could be here in approx. 2 hours by plane from London , so why spending a weekend on the sofa while it's raining there ? Take a plane and spend 2-3 days in places like Italy , or Spain , or Greece .
I would have done by myself , but simply I cannot stay too far from the shop for too long ..
