Had this for a while now, picked it up from a car boot sale for a quid

This is what it looked like

An hour with a wire brush in a grinder (forgotten how evil they are), don’t worry @dobbslc full RAMS in place and in my hip flask.

Some attention with a flap disc and then a tickle on the belt linisher and we have this

I need to get some sanding discs for my soft pad to get it all shiney shiney.

Carpenter I made the marking knife for is supplying some hard wood for the handle and I’ve ordered some mosaic knife pins. Will be held together with two part epoxy

One side of the blade has a makers mark, it’s worn away and all I can read is “warranted”. Any one know anything about the maker?

There is a name by the handle/ blade joint. Look up butchers meat cleavers for that's what I think it is . Do Google images & see if any pictures look similar to the places it has markings .

+1 for butchers meat cleaver. Been hit with a hammer at some point to 'mushroom' that back edge over. Gilpins was just over the road from where I work in Cannock. All gone now and you wouldn't know it had been there. About a mile up the road was Britool, That's under a roundabout now.

Thanks @Olderisbetter, that’s exactly it. Makers name has gone but the pics are still there.

There was a name on the raised bit at the front of the handle but that’s gone too

That's a nice looking cleaver there, I have an old one I found in an outhouse at a place we lived in but I think that is bigger than ours. That looks like a two hander
